Living so close to one of the biggest karst cave and the winner of Guinness World Record attraction cave is nothing else but a privilege. More than 24.000 meters long in the concert hall even more that 40 meter high and more than 80 meter below the surface. We can talk in surpluses for this beauty of nature underground cave for ever. It’s a brand new world down there and it’s hard to explain in human words. At least we can help to understand to see if we have a pictures of the Postojna cave.
“…another world will surround me…”
The Chemical Brothers
Usually there is a silence and darkness in the cave so when we were celebrating 200 years of cave discovered by human it was quite shocking to see this wonder of nature shown and reflected by more lights that usual together with music concert even more breathtaking. In this 200 years the cave didn’t change much. 100 years stalactite or stalagmite grow for no more that 1 centimeter. And the oldest ones are more than 530.000 years old. Do the math.

It was made by water. In all this years river now moved more below but water still dropping from the ceiling. It’s like there is rain falling down from ever and never stops. The constant temperature between 9 – 10 degrees celsius provides perfect condition for stalactites and stalagmites to grow. It would be appropriate to think what nature was creating for more than 500.000 years and what people done in just 2.000 or even in just last 100 years called industrial and technological revolution.
